There once was a bear who liked to STARE. Bear doesn’t mean to be rude, he’s just curious . . . but nobody likes being stared at and it soon gets Bear into trouble. The ladybugs find somewhere else to eat, the birds shoo him away, and an annoyed badger bites his nose. Luckily there’s a googly-eyed frog to set Bear straight! He teaches Bear to smile and say “Hello” when looking at people, and Bear is able to make lots of friends. But he still likes to stare at his own reflection!

Author/Illustrator Bio

  • Duncan Beedie is a freelance illustrator and animator based in Bristol, England. He has worked in animation on a diverse series of projects for British television and web clients. When not hunched over a graphics tablet, he likes to go out and about with his dog, Ivor, and attempt to teach his daughter not to put random items into the DVD player. Find out more about Duncan at duncanbeedie.co.uk.
  • Steph Stilwell is a pun-loving, New York Times bestselling illustrator and designer based in Brooklyn, NY. She is currently illustrating and designing for Hello!Lucky by day and can often be found working on freelance by night on books like Essentially Charli. Prior to Hello!Lucky, Steph received her BFA in illustration from MICA and then spent several years in publishing as a children's book designer, working on a variety of formats including board books, picture books, chapter books, and graphic novels. Steph will forever be a children's book enthusiast and is now using her publishing know-how to illustrate her own children's books. When she isn't working on freelance, you will likely find her scribbling in her sketchbook, binge-watching a cooking show, or hanging out with her dog, Jake.
